A We do everything possible to ensure that every customer likes the electric wheelchair they buy from us, we walk them through all the available options, and we determine where and for what the equipment will be used. Here are some tips to help you choose the power wheelchair that best suits your needs.
Load bearing capacity: this is crucial in determining which electric wheelchair is right for your needs. Most electric wheelchairs have a load-bearing capacity of 300 pounds. Load-bearing capacity is the total weight that a device can bear, according to the manufacturer. Choosing an electric wheelchair that cannot support the user's weight may void the warranty and may result in expensive repairs.
Front, rear or mid wheel drive electric wheelchairs: The position of the drive wheels significantly affects the amount of space the wheelchair needs to turn and how it can maneuver in tight Spaces. Two measurements are usually mentioned in wheelchair specifications. The 360-degree turning perimeter is the entire area required for the wheelchair to make one full turn. The turning radius is the distance from the center of the chair (pivot point) between the drive wheels to the farthest point of the chair. Mid-wheel drive electric wheelchairs have casters on both the front and back of the base to help prevent the electric wheelchairs from leaning forward or backward.
Medium wheel drive electric wheelchairs also have good traction on most road surfaces, slopes and side slopes.
The 360 degree circumference of front wheel drive is larger than that of mid wheel drive. However, they can actually get around tight corners better than the other two drive systems because the positioning of the pivot points makes their front ends very short. But with a long rear end, turning in tight Spaces is tricky.
Rear wheel drive Rear: wheel drive has the largest 360 degree circumference and turning radius of the three drive systems, making them more difficult to maneuver in tight Spaces.
Seat width: Depending on the size of the user, seat size is important. Most seats come with adjustable armrests, so you can adjust outwards or inwards for comfort.
Weight of the heaviest part (when disassembling): If you are considering disassembling the device, pay close attention to the weight of the heaviest part to ensure that the person storing the device can bear it.
